ABS TRUGEL 13A

ABS TRUGEL 13A

Description:

ABS TRUGEL 13A is a drilling grade sodium bentonite that meets the specifications of American Petroleum Institute (API) Specification 13A. It is mined and processed near Miles in Queensland, Australia. ABS TRUGEL 13A contains a high proportion of the active mineral species montmorillonite, which has a unique structure and chemistry. These are responsible for a range of characteristics that makes ABS TRUGEL 13A useful for oil and gas drilling.

Applications:

  • ABS TRUGEL 13A is typically used in oil and gas drilling.
  • It can also be used in other drilling applications, such as water well drilling and horizontal directional drilling (HDD).

Benefits:

  • ABS TRUGEL 13A forms thixotropic suspensions when mixed in clean water. This means that it has a gel-like consistency when undisturbed, but it can easily be re-suspended when stirred.
  • The resulting gel strength holds the cuttings in suspension, particularly when operations are interrupted.
  • The flat plate-like particles of bentonite deposit an impermeable cake on the walls of the drill hole. This unique feature of bentonite stabilizes the hole and maintains the hole dimensions.
  • ABS TRUGEL 13A is able to maintain its rheology and filtrate loss properties at temperatures in excess of 400°F. This makes it a suitable choice for drilling in hot environments.

Typical Properties:

  • Montmorillonite content: 90%
  • Loss on ignition: 5%
  • Bulk density: 1.2 t/m³
  • pH: 7.8
  • Water absorption: 300%

Packaging:

ABS TRUGEL 13A is packaged in 25kg bags or 1.2 ton bulk bags
